I don't want to pay $10 b/c I know I will rarely use it..but I know that WHEN i use it, I will probably be in a real jam and realllly reallly need it.

Is the only way to take advantage of Bold's GPS by paying the $10 for telenav or blackberry maps or whatever? is there a free service I can download?

I have been using Google Maps on all my BB's....I tried Mapquest Navi with turn by turn voice but had a hard time getting it to connect.

Google Maps is great and free

Second that - Google Maps is a great app! I also use it as a kind of local directory assistance since it will give you phone numbers as well as addresses (and turn by turn directions)

I got a call from Mapquest today after I sent a message indicating the current version does not work on the Bold. In the discussion the person said in about 2 weeks they will have a version that works on the Bold.
I'm a skeptic, especially as long as it took to get the Bold out the door with AT&T.

It only took a while for AT&T the rest of the world has had it for over two months.

Google is great, if you don't need turn by turn.

If you want something free, you can't go wrong with Google.

I have BlackBerry maps also, it doesn't offer turn by turn, so it is no better than Google.

I use Google Maps. I don't need turn-by-turn because I just need to look at the route first and I can get a good idea of how to get there. But then I only use GPS when I go out of NY.

Google Maps will not work on my Bold due to BES settings. Been using Windows Live Search as an alternative. Works great.

I use BB maps and Telenav. But I downloaded Gmaps and it sucks on my Bold. Did I get a bad version or something? I cant zoom in, cant center on GPS or anything.

i use nothing but Google maps, its the best i can find, Navigating around Vancouver is some times hard for me, because where i live are all street numbers, in Vancouver its all labeled by names, makes it hard for me to accurately get around.

Google maps is so smart it designs Bus routes for me too, where to walk and transfer if required. i dont know any other maps programs that can work the bus tables as well as Google.

Google maps is the way to go very accurate especially if your phone has gps

I'm in the same situation I rarly use gps but when I'm in a jam and need it I have somthing there to use and I don't get charged for it, that's why someday GOOGLE will rule the world!!!
