    Short Cut Queries

    Advertisement

    Hi Folks

    Anyone know if there's any kind of short-cut for the following:

    1) Enabling your password (to then lock the keypad). It's a right faff at the moment:-
    - BB button/find options/go to Password/toggle Enable on/ enter PW TWICE/save/back up to main screen/lock screen

    2) Setting the alarm - not as laborious as above but still fairly tedious if you're trying to set it quickly to remind you when your parking meter's about to expire.

    Oh - and while I'm here, anyone know if there's a way of setting the alarm so that it doesn't repeat each day until you remember to turn it off ??

    TIA
    SM

    Are you using a qwerty device? Curve, 8800, etc.? If you are, press Call, Menu, Options, General Options, Dial From Home Screen - turn to off. Then you can use those keys as shortcuts instead. You'll notice that when you hit Menu to go to all of your apps, there's a letter underlined in the app name? That's the shortcut key for that app. Messages = M, Alarm = R, etc.

    Exactly, and K would be keyboard lock.

    Mr. D, you're right. And O is Options.

    A = address book
    B = browser
    C = compose
    D = memo pad
    F = profiles
    K = keypad lock
    L = calendar
    M = messages
    N = messenger (bb)
    O = options
    R = alarm
    S = search
    T = tasks
    U = calculator
    V = saved messages
    W = wap browser

    I'm sure there's a couple that I've missed. Also, if you have messenger programs like Yahoo or AIM, they also have shortcuts (y and i, respectively).

    Am using a Bold.

    Have tried that, however find that quick keys like the 'm' for messages and 'k' for keyboard lock work but when I press 'a' - I just get sent straight to the a's in my contact list

    Is there any quick key you know of to enable/disable the password ?

    TIA

    Hi Ganns- our posts crossed - that's a really handy list but for some reason neither

    a, or r

    take me to the alarm - 'a' just takes to me my contacts (as does 'c' rather than to 'compose' as your list states) and 'r' does nothing.

    Do I need to change another setting ?

    TIA

    Sorry, I must have messed up on the list! A would be for Addresses, R is for alarm. When C takes you to your contacts, try selecting one - it should give you options to send a message of some kind.

    Also, go to your main apps screen and highlight alarm. Is one of the letters underlined?

    Hitting O for options will get you there quicker, that's the only thing I can think of.

    I know there are a lot of posts out there with all the shortcuts but I've collected all of them into one file and found a few more. Here is everything found so far. Don't know if works on all bbs but these all work on 8330s

    I can't remember wher I found it but I'll look around but someone creatged a wallpaper with the shortcuts on it. And it displays real clear on the homescreen.

    You can also copy the list and paste it into a memo and save to your sd card and have the list at all times.

    Post Shortcuts.txt file for you to save to your phone

    Attached is a text file that you can save to your sd card with what I have above. I'm finding new ones all the time and will keep it updated. If you want me to send new updates as I get em done just let me know and I'll shoot it over to you. You can pin me or send IM both in my profile.
