Really Thinking About Getting A Bold

Hey fellow stackers with and without Bolds.

I am strongly considering getting a Bold and putting my Curve down for good.

I've pretty much have READ all I can from user reviews via the stacks. The Bold seems like a pretty solid device, and the movie quality looks great.

I was reluctant to purchase an AT&T branded one because I read the horror stories about battery life, and the option for 2G was not available, except on the Rogers branded Bolds.

I read info today that since the AT&T model Bold doesn't have the option to switch from 3g / 2g it doesn't really matter.

The reason for my post is to get any other info on the Bold that I may not have found here on the stacks, or elsewhere.

I am going to go to an AT&T store this weekend and play with one for a bit, even if I don't go I still plan on getting it.

Man my Curve is making a lot of noise as I click away at the buttons (maybe because its not even a month old LOL) I'm sure that's not the reason.

I hope the Bold is more quiet.

In closing I am happy with my Curve, but I mainly want the Bold for the keyboard, screen size, and OS of course.

If anyone is looking to sell their Bold for not quite an outrageous price, PIN me or send me a PM.

One quick question, no matter what brand I get. When it comes to upgrading the OS I should download the one made for that brand and just delete the vendor.xml file before upgrading my BB right?

Just making sure beforehand, that's what I did when I upgraded my old Titanium Curve to 4.5.

    Thanks in Advance,

    Female_MC

BOLD is one hot phone and yeah as long as the OS is for that device. Install it and delete the vendor file.

You sure you don't want to wait for the 3g Curve, FMC?

That's my plan, but I still want to go and play with a Bold for my own firsthand experience with it.

If you get a rogers bold, you don't have to put rogers os on it.. Lots of people are using italys 185...

I have had mine for 3 weeks now and love it....went from a 8310 to a Bold....

the only thing I dont like about it is the default camera key on the right side...it's place in a area that is easy to press by mistake....so i just changed the button function to do something else....other then that I love the speed...the sound....the picture....the feel of the keyboard....

I was very hesitant about getting the Bold as when it first came out, there were some fellow PS'ers that wanted to sell their Bold (but later reconsidered).

After using the Bold for 17 days, I don't think I can go back to using the Curve. I just went back to using the Curve the other day and for some odd reason, the buttons just didn't feel the same (as the buttons on the Bold are a lot bigger and most squishier). Also, the Curve actually seems a lot slower in comparison to the speed of the internet of the Bold.

Another interesting point is that I always find myself (still) deleting my event logs (ALT lglg) and doing constant battery pulls as I was very accustomed to doing that when I had my Curve (due to the lack of memory and/or memory fluctuations. I had about 25mb, but it would always fluctuate to about 16mb at the end of the day). You will not be finding a memory issue with the Bold as it has 1gb of internal memory.

Although there are a lot of people that may or may not agree with me, I think ultimately, what you need to do is to go into a store (like you said), pick up a Bold and play with one and see how it fits to your liking.
