Wait, TMO says it's a new, known issue and that's all they said? Nothing about sending you a new device or anything?

No, I would not accept that answer. Unless I'm mistaken, yours is the first thread that has been started with this specific issue and this device has been out for awhile. This sounds like a big FAIL for TMO customer service, if you ask me.

Tell them you'll take your chances with a replacement. I don't buy their story that you will get the same issue with any other device they send you.

Ditto. Make sure you get a NEW device and not a refurb. Good luck

call them again, and ask if you can go to a corporate store to get it exchanged-- if you send your phone as part of the warranty, you will most likely get a refurb phone

Call them back and demand a replacement... T-Mobile's customer service is better than that... it sounds like a hardware issue and they should replace it.

There's no excuse for Tmo poor customer service, and I'm fortunate that they have always been good to me. A handheld with the symptoms you describe I would think had a drink spilled on it - the sticking +, etc.
