There is no solid release date on the 9000 for t-mo

I have an very old, very awesome, blackberry plan that I'm never leaving.

The roller on my 8700 is going out.

My contract is up in sept.

Wait for it, or settle for the 8820?

wait for it...is my opinion. The Bold will blow the 8820 out of the water. Hopefully TMO will be 3G functional by that time also.

I would buy the 8820 now, which will provide you with breathing room. The Bold is an ALL new BlackBerry, therefore I would not be surprised to see some bugs, that while they may or may not be of any significance, if they are, RIM will fix them asap and you will have wished you waited.

I have no pressing need, other than being an early adopter, and I'm going to wait for that very same reason. Let someone else be the "beta testers" for the actual production model. Remember this is a model that has not been tested in the streets yet. As we all know no matter how good the design, the computer testing, or real world testing amongst a small group, until the public gives it the real test we will not know. I have faith in RIM, far more than most, however I've also been involved in similar, product development projects. And no matter what the level of engineering expertise, time spent, materials used, there is always that unknown factor that may surface once the product is in the hands of the public.

So, I say get an 8820 now. Enjoy it for what it is - a very good BB (I know I have one) and then you can sit back, relax, and enjoy reading the reports from others. Meanwhile you are using a very proven, stable, reliable BB that will not let you down.

So that's my take for what it's worth. .....

    Cheers

I am posting from a BB Bold. My opinion would be upgrade to the Bold when your contract is up. I am on a 2nd build OS and its works very well. As you know BB OS is the most stable in the world compared to other manufacturers. You won't be sorry when you have this baby in your hand.

go ahead and get the 8820. you can always get all or at least most of your money back, or keep it for a backup when you get your 9000-my opinion.

I would buy the 8820. I would use the 8820 as a backup when the bold comes out.

bold is the replacement for the 88xx series, so i would never in my life get a 8820 at such a close release date, if anything i would buy 72xx and just play with that for a month untill the bold is released, you can get one for about 30-40 bucks! It feels kinda funny to use such old device, but still nastalgic
