    Supposedly, installing the .282 OS (from Rogers and at least one Asian carrier) will also allow you to switch to 2G only, without the need for debranding or use of the engineering screens.

    Yes, the .282 from Roger's will allow you to select 2G only from the Mobile Network Options screen.
