    Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum and nice to meet all of you!!

However, because of the time, I must ask a question regarding to blackberry tethering.

Does anyone know how Tethering through BB device works?

Not the steps for tethering. I want to know the process behind tethering. If anyone have links/documents regarding to tethering please post it for me.

Also, does tethering consider as a High Speed Dial-up connection?

Any help will be greatly appreciated! thank you thank you!

If you do a search there are several very good threads that tell you how to teather, step by step.

As far as it being a high speed connection, not. It is VERY S L O W!

I and some of my partners have used it several times in an emergency and it reminded my of dial up or slower.

Tethering essentially is simply allowing your PC to use your mobile data network connection to access the internet. Typical EDGE speeds are about 115 kbps. I find it acceptable vs $10 a day at so called "premium hotels".

    Thanks guys for replying!!

However, I want to know the topology behind tethering, if there are encryption, compression when connected through Tethering to Roger's Network.

Also, I was refering it as a HIgh Speed "Dial-up" connection. As it is much faster than the traditional dial-up, don't you guys think so?

    Thanks again!

Because when you Tether you are dialing in to get access to Roger's Network.

this only answers part of your question like everyone else has, but it's slowest in the daytime and marginally better in the evenings. but i have to say it's way faster than dial up, at least for me to recollect the mid 90's dial ups.
