    HELP!!! Installing upgraded OS and stuck!!!



    I am not a newbie, have done this dozen of times before but my desktop manager seems to be stuck..the progress bar ha snot moved for almost an hour...never took that long before and I am now paranoid...do i disconnect??? Use task manager to kill desktop manger?? i backup up my stuff of course but i am having a REL FIT people!!! Please help!

    What model phone are you upgrading?
    What version of OS are you trying to install
    What version of DM are you using?
    Windows or other?

    umh a BOLD At&T desktop manager 4.7 and when i did my daily hook up to sync it said that a new version of the software was available fro my phone..so i clicked yes and it started normal..backing up data..turning off radio..etc..but it is at th epoint whre it says restoring data and ha snot moved. it has been almost two hours now...I am going to cry!!!!

    it has the sync mode screen on..the computer logo to berry logo...like it is synching..still ha snot moved....

    Well...I always preach patience and am not generally going to recommend pulling the plug on an install but if it really is in the "restoring data" phase your OS may well be installed and you may get away with rebooting the device (via battery pull) and then using DM to restore your back up.

    If your device fails to reboot you will at the very least have to begin again, and likely may need to use JL Cmder to wipe it clean.

    I would wait a bit longer - do you have a lot of data on the device?
    Are you using a laptop? If so make sure your power save settings on your USB are disabled.

    ok, i pulled the plugged after saying a quick prayer...it said that my device was not able to be restored..but that i may do so using the backup/restore data application which i did..it worked only thing is that it did not save my theme settings for some reason. Anyway, not sure what the update was but oh...looks a little different though...new setup folder which i dont think was there before.

    Themes never get saved in Backup files. So try to keep the OTA download links somewhere or try to get the Zip files to install later using the DM.

    That's always been a bummer.

    Glad the Bold is back, that phone ROCKS!
