    GPS impact on battery

this is a pretty specific question relating to the bold and its gps module in the bold, so i didnt post it in gps section or general blackberry.

the question is, what is the impact of leaving gps location on for battery life? does it impact like using wifi, or what? is it worth leaving off until needed?

I'm not certain but I doubt it uses very much battery. It never actually say my position until I request it from a program so I doubt its working very hard. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

The GPS receiver can"t use that much power as many companies have it on all the time.

On my 8800 leaving an app like Google Maps open that keeps the GPS active would cause my battery to drain in a couple of hours. I have not tried it since switching to the Bold, but i suspect it will have the same impact. As a rule I close any GPS apps as soon as i dont need them anymore to prevent this drain.
