    Favorite SONG now a Ringtone!

I dont know if this is old news or not but i thought i would share something I discovered with my 9700. I can set any song as a ringtone and the song plays CONTINUOUSLY. I assume this is a result of the updated software and this may work on the Bold 9000. It used to be (original curve era) that if you set a SONG file as a ringtone, the song would play for like 8 seconds and then repeat. Now the song plays continuous. I think this is really cool and actually saves you money from buying a ringtone. Alot of the ringtones I like are the intros to a song anyway.
I would appreciate any feedback from all you super techs out there. Is this old news?

...it happens with any music you have on the memory card. Its great for alarms as well.
I also have it on the Storm with the 4.7 OS.

Its easy. Just go to your Music. Select the song and press the menu key (BB key). Scroll to Set As Ringtone and select. That's it.

Do you have a memory card in your 9700, Raid? If so, you can just drag and drop the song from iTunes onto your media card.

That is done through your BB software on your computer. I dont have access to my computer right now so I can't tell you step by step. You could email 1 song to your BB if you want it right now, but I wouldn't recommend it for a lot of songs because it will take too long.

You can use the Desktop Manager, but it's not necessary. If you have a media card, you just enable mass storage mode, drag and drop the song into the music folder on your media card.

Hi Rog - that is also possible with the Storm 4.7
    The 9700 OS 5, I presume,is just a step forward on this.
Maybe the fact that these phones manage to play a media file continuosly as a ringtone, isn´t old news... I think the users just accept the fact and carry on...
But I must say it´s an OK feature. At least now, if I don´t want to an answer a call, I can hear a song just for the fun of it, until the call drops...

I don't know about the storm or bold. Two years ago I had apearl and you could do that. When I got my curve in septeber iit had the same option. I guess I just assumed all had that. Another great place to go to is mytinyphone.com
This has free mp3 ringgtones including movie themes and voice tones.

You can always buy an app called Ringtone Creator n turn any song on your phone into a ringtone from any part of the song. Or you can always use Cool Edit Pro from your PC. I usually download every hot song that comes out. Exclusives. And then turn them into ringtones....I love it when ppl say..."Where did you get that ringtone, I just heard that song for the first time ever last nite" awesome! Lol

Another good trick without a paid app:
    Open your mp3 in iTunes
Right click on track > Get info > Options and select the start/stop time frame you want to have looped. Click OK
Right click on track > convert to mp3
Take new mp3 track and get it on your phone! (i like to move it to device memory)
