My 9700 stays cool as well. I have Meterberry, and even after hard work on the phone it shows maximum at 47•C ...processor temp of course.
Some hot conversations you're having there buddy !

Your device should not get hot, I would be leery of that.

Is your 9700 still under warranty? If so, I would call customer service, this is not a good sign. I had an 8100 that started doing that and it went completely DEAD soon thereafter. if its not under warranty i do not have a viable solution for you. It could possibly be a faulty battery, before you scrap it, I would at the very least try a new battery.

Yeah mine gets plenty warm. Either when I'm on the phone or doing a lot of transfers. I just assumed cause it was using a lot more hardware a lot more constantly. Both of my 8700s did it with no hitches and my 8900 does it now too.

I think my 8900 has only gotten warm enough for me to worry once or twice. Tho here I am almost a year and a half after getting it and I can still gp through my 8hour workday listening to tunes and browsing what I need.

Oh! Wanna see it get really warm? Fire up the uma, get yourself on a good long phonecall and then start up the xm radio app it used to not stop playing when you got a phone call at one time. Wooo my phone would get hot then.
