I've just updated my OS to 4.6.0.147 but I'm still getting the same message. I had FULL 3G signal when I tried so I doubt it's anything to do with strength of signal.

This problem was raised on Vodafone's eforum where Vodafone state "Just to let you know, we've tested this in-house and can confirm that streaming audio/video appears to be broken"

    @Vodafone UK Guys:

Have a look at your Options > Adv. Options > TCP. If it's blank then that could be your problem. The settings are:

    APN: internet
    username: web
    password: web

I am a Rogers user and I have experienced problems similar to those described above when I was using a WiFi connection that perhaps had a no-video filter in place. Everywhere else, both 3G and WiFi, the Bold has downloaded and played video quite nicely, though once a battery pull was necessary.

It is interesting that my APN setting is blank.

Thanks but the APN settings is one of the first things I always set - and it is set correctly.

Even in the house where the kids use Youtube via their laptops, I have the problem - so I do not believe it is a router issue.

    Sinkers,

    It gets even stranger!

On the same WiFi that would not give me video on my Bold, I was
able to watch all the video I wanted on my laptop by tethering
it through the Bold. For some reason the laptop could not find
the WiFi, even though the Bold easily found and used it.

I had tried it earlier with 3G and it worked. Now that I changed back to 147 is not working but I knew that about 147.

Definitely call Orange since Sinker confirmed the problem with Vodafone.

Side issue: Do you get that pop up that says switch to WAP for streaming after you click on watch video? I just find it strange.

I think you see this if your default browser is set to Hotspot Browser

It isn't. It's on Internet Browser.

Any luck with Vodafone? I looked at your thread earlier at Vodafone's forum and I didn't see any updates.

Then it could be that when using the browser under options and then General Propeties, you have ticked Switching to WAP for streaming media

No joy with Vodafone yet. Bizarrely, it looks like a UK problem not a provider problem

Well this may be the nail in the coffin. I've jus updated my OS to 4.6.0.162. When I now try to access mobile youtube I get the following warning dialog pop up...

"This is a Wi-Fi service. Please ensure that your device has an active Wi-Fi connection and try again."

What the hell is going on? Are we now finding out that in fact you CAN'T stream video on a Blackberry Bold? Historically it seems people outside the UK have had no problem. Have any of these users upgraded to the new OS and if so, do they get the same message?

I am using 4.6.0.162 and it works fine with YouTube, in fact I had problems with .150 that are now eliminated with .162.

However, I am not in the UK. Chances are that your provider is blocking it.
