Hi - Bold is anytime better as compared to Javlin , for couple of Reasons -

    1. Better Keyboard which maked your Typing very Smooth (if you type long e-mails)
    2. Better Processor which makes the response time higher
    3. Better Battery Backup

I've owned both, and both have their advantages. Bold's processor is super fast, has 3G. The 8900 has the best BlackBerry camera to date, a 3.2 mp auto focus. The 8900 has like 4 times the application memory of a Bold. I have 30 apps on my 8900 and still have close to 100mb free app space. The Bold is a beast, but I really like the smaller size, camera and most importantly, the app memory. You can't go wrong with either.

I have to agree with Chokem, there are plus to both devices. The camera on the 8900 is simply outstanding along with it's extra memory. The Bold has lots more processing power and has one of the nicest keyboards I have used sence to 7520 Blackberry series (7520 ws my favorite).

I have both and switch back and forth about ever few months while waiting on the Onyx!

Now, the Oynx is having your cake and eating it, too!

    Please RIM, deliver it soon!

    ,

So if I generally use my blackberry for:

    BBM
    Email
    Texting
    Browsing
    Apps (probably around 10)

Then the 8900 should suit my purposes just fine.

    Thanks for your help

If you are going to run 10-plus apps, I would suggest the 8900. If 3G means a lot to you, then go for the Bold. I cant tell that much diff in 3G and EDGE to be honest with you

They are both great - really, really what motivates me towards the 8900 is the ergonomics. Fits nicely in your hand, and it's easier to carry...
Regarding the rest, save for a few minor details (performance of processor and 3G on Bold) against a higher memory to be able to carry more applications (the 8900) the functions are all there and they are the same.
Either way you'll be a satisfied customer !

Thanks everybody for your help. I agree, I love the size of the 8900 and how comfortable it is in your hands. Fits in your pocket very easy. I will keep my 8900 and wait and see what the new Blackberry Onyx will be like.

    Cheers,

Hi Kimberlee sorry if I'm a bit late. I've also had both the 8900 and I left it for the Bold. Mostly because I've wanted one for awhile ultimately for the keyboard! I did enjoy my 8900 for the short time I had it (7 months) but it was the right decision for me to switch to the Bold. I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you! Good luck.

Chokem put it best. They both have their advantages. I've used both and prefer the 8900. I just love the feel of the device and the 3.2 MP camera is great. Either one however is a great device. You just need to look at what you need it to do. I almost have mine trained to make me sandwiches.
