    Bold battery

I upgraded my OS to .247 and after about a week my battery drains in half a day. I am not using the browser very much. I have even turned off 3G and wifi and bluetooth and it is still draining way to fast.

Can I reload the .162 OS back on my bold.

You can reload the old OS by downloading it from Blackberry (I don't have the link, but it should if in the first post of the official OS thread stickied to the top). Uninstall the .247 from your system, install the older OS, and then connect the Bold. It should ask if you want to downgrade. You could also try downgrading to a newer OS than the .162 (if you can find them of course). People have reported good success with .234, .237, and .210, all in terms of battery life and stability (as well as performance enhancements over the stock .162). It's just a thought.

I just got my bold yesterday and today at noon my battery was already 1/2 drained! I am running the original OS that was installed on it! I downloaded facebook, twitter and 2 more apps which do not run in the background, however bluetooth is enabled and I also have an 8gb card which in my 8800 did make my phone drain faster!

Jsut a thought, have you added any apps that run in the bg since the upgrade?
If you have .162 you can use jl_cmdr to wipe and reload.

I have reloaded .247 back onto my Bold. I have wifi, bluetooth and 3g all turned off. The battery is responding much better, but what's the point of paying for a phone like the Bold if you can't use all of the features.
Also, how do you turn off apps running in the background?

Depends. There are a few that are always running. Browser, bbm, messages, phone. Best thing to do is close (menu, exit) any app you open and be selective of others (weather apps, alert programs).

.247 is a horrible os. memory leak issues, restarting problems, terrible battery life...just get rid of the os. we've tried various os's on our phones and .210 is by far the best one we've used. i highly suggest putting that one on the phone, all of the issues should disappear.........

You can use the features but need to turn them off when not using them. If not expect to have less battery capacity. If not using an application, it need to be shut down and not in the background as it also eats up memory and slows your Bold down and makes it less dependable.
