You brought up a good point, which is true.
In fact it was that fact that kept me away from Gmail for a period of time. During that period when I had spare time I did some very comprehensive research it turns out that the only difference between google & the rest is Google is open & honest about limited privacy, when the others employ the same practices, it's just that I had to read through hundreds of pages of their privacy policies to discover it.

I was not all that surprised anyway, as it's no secret we have little privacy left anyway, due to the insurance companies years of data mining. Plus there is nothing we can do about it anyway.

So I'm currently using google & enjoying the features that Gmail does have that others do not.

I agree, Gmail is the one.
For those of you with windows PC's & Laptops here's a tip. Get a Ubuntu Linux Live CD. They are less than $5.00 you slip in in your cd/dvd drive & you can run linux from it without putting any files on your computer. A great (no risk) easy way to see if you like Ubuntu Linux. That's what I did, as I could not stand all the problems with Vista.

After I tried it I liked it so much that I installed it off the same disc. You can create a dual boot setup with windows, or you can choose to have it wipe the drive & you will have 100% linux. Want to know more? PM me.

Hello open source, good bye Microsoft.

Now all my apps are free! And the "look & feel" is as nice as OS X Leopard or better!

Absolutely so. I add my recommendation.

You don't even have to spend $5, you can download the LiveCD ISO image and burn it yourself into a CD.

Especially when helping people still afflicted by Windows, I make sure I always
have handy a couple of Linux LiveCDs... Knoppix and Ubuntu, to say the least, along with the focused Linux distribution included in the UBD diagnostics-plus CD.

Additionally, I just burned the new Fedora release into a DVD... 4 Gigs of pure pleasure ... aaah!

But I've actually purchased a SUSe Linux distro -- because the
accompanying booklet was very clear and informative, and thus appropriate for
the first steps of every new convert I bring into the faith

Been dealing with Linux from the start. It does have advantages. Also I just got a Gateway laptop for my son. I paid the extra $100.00 for XP.
Stay away from Vista has long has you can.
My Hotmail also works on my BB. I have had the account I think since 1995

    Great post gkast1,

You brought up a good point about downloading it for free. I would like to ad, for those of you that have never burned an ISO image before, it takes special software. The good news is if you google it, you can download ISO software free off the net.

I like the looks of windows in my rear view mirror...

    Cheers!
