If u have the .zip file, take the .cod files in the "For_4.5" or "For_4.6" and put those in the java folder... Should be (c:\program files\common files\research in motion\shared\loader files\ & your OS version) take the blackberrymessenger.alx file and save it to the root folder where your os is located... Open apploader (c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\apploader.exe) and run it... Should show the option to update blackberry messenger to 5.0 hope this helps!

Hey all, i am having a very similar issue with installing my bbm5. I had it when I had OS 4.6.0.1xx and as soon as I upgraded to 4.6.0.282 I no longer have it. I tried using all of the OTA links via Wifi and keep getting the "907 - Invalid COD" error message, and when I try through DM I keep getting the message "Not compatible with device" or something along those lines.

    Can anybody help me out?

    Thanks

Is there a way to keep the contacts under BBM when upgrading? I just installed the new att os and I don't want to lose all the contacts.

    Thanks!!

Just fire up DM and backup... or if you already have BBM 5.0 installed, run the backup from within the BBM... save to your memory card...

Great Advice, Impak875! Good job! Also, guys, don't be intimidated by unzipping files on ur computer and loading them via DM. It Sounds intimidating, but its really very simple. DM is pretty self-explanatory with loading apps to ur phone. Make sure to always do a backup before doing anything major to ur phone.

It would be nice if the released version would work with the 5.0 os.

Wait about 2 more days and you may see just that. The 7th is the date RIM is reported as releasing the official BBM 5.0.
