    AT&T 3 G on a T Mobile 9700

    Recently started using a T Mob 9700 unlocked with AT&T service but I can't pick up AT&T 3G network. Any suggestions how to fix this???

    hey gumby- if you are using a tmobile branded 9700 you wont be able to pick up at&t 3g signal-- they use different 3g bands, sorry

    Just to elaborate for those that are unaware, there are actually two versions of the 9700 being sold in the US. The only way I have seen to tell the difference is to know which carrier since externally they are identical. The 9700 for T-Mobile supports 900, 1700 and 2100 for WCDMA (3G) frequencies. T-Mobile uses the 1700 portion for thier network. The 9700 for at&t supports 850, 1900, and 2100 for WCDMA frequencies. at&t uses 850 and 1900 for their 3G frequencies. The 2100 band is European plus (don't remember how many countries use it). Not sure about the 900 band.
