    AT&T World Phone?

What does it mean AT&T world phone when the bold boots up? Does that mean I can use my Bold anywhere in the world, buts it locked to AT&T only?
Upgraded the BlackBerry Curve to BlackBerry Bold 12/1/08.

Once unlocked, you have the ability to put any GSM carrier's SIM card in the phone, either in the US or abroad. As long as they provide the BlackBerry data plan.

in addition, the phone does work all around the world including the UMTS network in Japan making it a true world phone as stated in the startup on the phone. Previous att Blackberrys did not have the UMTS ability other than the 8707G therefore making it unable to be truly a world phone.

It is very cool, and I for one will certainly enjoy taking advantage of this functionality.

You can roam with ATTs sim card in so many different countries. It is expensive but convenient since the the people dialing you are dialing a US number.

Att has spent time on the bold making it known that it is a world phone. Alot of customers though that the verizon blackberries were the only world phones. Now you will see most new blackberries coming out on att with the world phone logo.

The Blackberry 8830 is not a true world phone either. They are not UMTS capable either. The new Storm is.
