after Wiping my BOLD SIM Card not recognized
after wiping my Bold and installing new OS .210 now when I turn on the device I get the setup wizard with a massage "Remove the battery and verify that a valid SIM Card is inserted correctly (for details, see your Getting Started Guide).
The SIM card is valid and working fine, when I close the setup wizard the phone connects to the network and I can get SMS/Voice working fine but no emails and I can't get the Service Books. I have tired many things to fix this.
Anybody have any idea how to fix this or what is happing here?
It always asks you to verify the sim card the first time the phone boots up, this is normal.
Are you using an unlocked Bold on a different carrier?
Ok so I went and read your OTHER post about the same topic.. If they do not carry a Blackberry Bold on the service provider you are using, then you need to manually get the service books and transfer them onto the Bold. For a starting point, google this:
HowTo: Get All Features (WAP Browser, MMS) Working on T-Mobile USA with Unlocked Bold
I am using a locked Bold but I am traveling now, and it seems when I wiped it the SIM card is not getting recognized when the phone boots but later it works and I can get calls and send/receive SMS fine.
I will check the link you posted and report back
Thanks for your help
I am using UAE Etisalat Bold with Etisalat SIM but I am roaming in a different country and using different service provider.
I have no experience with roaming on a different carrier, so I personally can't help you there. I hope someone here can.
I may be wrong about this but I suspect that you may not be able to resend your service books while roaming internationally.
I just read some stuff here that may give us a clue as to where your problem is, although this page is from another carriers FAQ page, it may provide some insight on the issue you are having. Here is an exert from that page:
Q: Do I have to register for international roaming to use the service to access my emails overseas?
A: Yes. You are required to subscribe for International Roaming services and activate GPRS before you leave the country in order to access your emails while overseas.
Also, I'm wondering if maybe data is turned off while roaming on a blackberry. Check this in Options->Mobile Network->Data Services, and make sure it is set to "on" and not "Off When Roaming".
I have been roaming for the past three weeks and my Bold was working fine while traveling.
I got this problem when I wiped and upgraded the OS and I have used this Bold from October without any problems.
I think the SIM reader has some kind of problem. I am in country where they don't have Bold yet and no service center here that can help me.
I checked Data Services are ON and I get EDGE in caps all the time.
I am thinking of send my Bold to be repaired in UAE and sent back to me.
I still think it might be a software issue or device configuration
