All have trackballs that work perfectly. The oldest is the 8300 at over 1 year & lots of use... No Problems.

Maybe I have either had bad luck or dirty pockets... but the damn things always die on me... Although to be fair the 8320 died due to the internal speaker, but still, I haven't owned one for more than 6 months without something going wrong!

I do know that trackballs are sensitive to dirt, pocket lint, cat or dog hair etc. I also believe that if RIM would have made it just a bit larger with a higher quality ball & seat interface, it would be smoother operating & far more durable.

I believe that the real key to long trackball life is two things.

    1) I'm always careful to keep my hands clean & dry. If the trackball gets sticky then it picks up everything.

    2) I always put my BB in a case that completely encloses it. So many cases only cover partway, leaving corners & the top exposed. Because I always carry mine in a front pocket, if its covered, nothing gets in. Also my trackball stays nice & white, no staining.
That said I do miss the far less sensitive tracwheel on the side.

    Cheers

I still think this phone's been rushed too soon. I have a crazy theory about this phone and why it's being launched so soon. Not so long ago it was being sold on ebay by some dude and then taken out. I think it's being sold asap to eliminate any infringement by any other joker out there trying to make a similar device. But that's just me lol. Do i like it? of course what's not to like. After all it's a not a do'hphone i mean an Iphone.

Yes, the Bold is designated as 9000
Then two days ago the Javelin was designated 9300.

It doesn't look "that" cool. I like the wire mesh covering the speaker holes.

BUT, what really caught my eye was this...I LOL'd.

thanks for the link. Not too impressed. I prefer the 8330 raised keyboard. Doesn't show me much on the visual side. Hope the internal workings are better.
