    What's This Torch Icon?

Can anyone verify what this icon at the top, right is? I think it might be for the messenger, but am not positive. If that is it, is there anyway to turn this off (short of deleting the net_rim_bbapi_blackberrymessenger.cod file and updating)?

I was wondering that myself, but I think it means you're connected to the BIS service.

If that's it, I've changed my mind about wanting to turn it off

I'm not sure if that's what it is, but it's the only thing that makes sense. I'll try and find out for sure.

Roger, thanks for finding that. I tried looking but I guess my search wasn't right.

The arrow in the picture is pointing to the BIS icon. The WiFi hotspot indicator is directly to the left of the BIS icon.

This link provides definitions for many of the indicators and icons on a BlackBerry.

Actually I believe it's to show you are connected to either BIS or BES, since I have it on both a BES connected phone and a BIS connect phone, both phones are 9800's running the same OS but different carriers.
