So I know of at least 3 apps which no longer work on the Torch ... BlackBerry Torch forum
Apps which need an update for the Torch
So I know of at least 3 apps which no longer work on the Torch that I consider important.
Worldmate -- I've heard vague rumors of "They're working on it" but nothing concrete
Pandora -- Same here.
Webex -- I haven't heard anything out of these guys... and I'm really annoyed that they have a web browser version for some phones, which would probably work on the Torch, but it just redirects you to the blackberry download page and says your phone isn't supported.
I don't suppose the Pinstack Black Ops Team can infiltrate these guys and see if there are timetables to be had out of the first two, and any information at all to be had out of Cisco? They don't seem to have a forum system on their site at all, so I haven't been able to find any information. Google is getting distracted by the fact that ads for the Torch are on many of the old links about webex, which is making it harder.
Anyone think they can help out with these questions?
Anyone else care to post information or questions about other apps for the Torch?
PS black Ops, thanks a lot I needed a good laugh today.
On a more serious note, I have "read" the same thing about Pandora but again no concrete proof.
I can say for cetain that Bellshare and Quicklaunch are in ative testing for OS6/ Torch releases
Of their applications.
I really really miss Pandora oh well soon I hope
you can borrow mine

I've actually been getting some more use out of Nobex Radio Companion lately, though of course the sound quality isn't as good.
I never liked slacker when I had my 9700. Pandora's the best but I guess this RIM's way of going the total opposite of the other platforms. Always trying to stand out. Weak!
What's the matter? CIA's got you pushing too many pencils?
Pandora > Slacker, but Slacker isn't trash either. It puts high quality sound into your ears, just isn't as good at picking what you like.
On an unrelated note, I've just found that Worldmate actually does work on the 9800... in landscape view. Its kind of funny actually. It only draws itself in a landscape aspect ratio, so if you turn your phone upright, it just extends past the screen. It also isn't very tuned in to the touchscreen, but dammit, it works.
If you go to their website on your blackberry, there's a link for people who don't have app world where you can download it. Its not as slick as I'd like, but at least I'm not losing functionality on that front. Still, I'm anxious for them to update an official torch version.
Another update: I pulled the COD files for webex and Pandora off my 9000 and loaded them on the Torch with BBSAK. Webex actually works great, except the splash screen is a bit squished, and of course you have to use the trackpad to move around and other keys for zooming, since the app wasn't written for a touchscreen.
Pandora, on the other hand seems to load just fine, but when it logs in, I get a popup saying my phone isn't supported. -I'll bet it would work fine if not for some server flag.
Your prob right, some people just have not bothered to support it yet!

Response from Socialscope and Pandora.
SocialScope: We are working on a 6.0 Version. RIM changed a lot.*
Pandora: We needed to make some changes to our app to support the Blackberry Torch.* We're currently testing the changes and we should have a release ready soon.* Thanks for your patience in the meantime!
