Re: Straight line instructions to activate Vendor Themes (Except 8130)

Hey guys,

Pretty new with playing around on my 8830 WE from Verizon. Quick question...I did everything that the post says and the "OS Today" theme shows up in my themes under settings, but when I go to the options, there is no place to activate it. Any suggestions?

Have you checked your Permisions? Go to Settigns or Options/Advanced Options/Applications. Select the theme, open the menu and select Edit Permissions. Find the major Item that says Deny and Expand it. I'm not sure what the minimum settings the require Allow, and which shouldn't but you should be able to find which will let you activate your theme.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but having never experienced your problem nor even remember hearing of it. Nor have I heard of the net.rim.blackberry.alx file and can't find it on my PC, I have reached the limit of being able to help you. Obviously, you either have a problem with your BB, or you have missed a step in the process. I'm sorry I can't help further.

I don't show an option for the Verizon theme in my blackberry.alx file. All I see is:
<!-- Verizon US filesets -->
<fileset Camera="True">
<files>
net_rim_bb_camera.cod

Any thoughts?

I don't think verizon themes are included in the Blackberry.alx files for GSM devices. Nor is Sprint.

Sorry.

I understand what you mean. Although, I had it on my original GSM curve.

Well, it's not in any of the blackberry.alx files for my AT&T downloads not the first Rogers Curve Version. I just checked.

One possible question, you didn't delete or rename the Blackberry.alx file perhaps. Check to make sure how ever you edited it didn't add a .txt to the file name. I.E make sure it is blackberry.alx, not blackberry.alx.txt

Re: Straight line instructions to activate Vendor Themes (Except 8130)

does anyone know where this file is located on vista? i did this just fine on my 8100 with xp, the file was exactly where it should be. i just got a 8310 and wanted to do the same to this one. i now have vista as well though and desktop manager 4.3. the file isn't in the same place. when i go to research in motion folder it just goes to another folder named "blackberry". i did a search for the blackberry.alx file and nothing. help?

Make sure you are going to Program Files/Common Files/Research in Motion/..... and not Program Files/Research in Motion/.... the latter is where you find the Blackberry Folder.

Just a thought

Re: Straight line instructions to activate Vendor Themes (Except 8130)

i am in the correct folder. there is no "shared" folder under research in motion. i'm not sure if the issue is with vista or with dm 4.3, but the path is not the same and the file seems to just not be there.....
