    Resizing Wallpapers

I am trying to resize some pictures/wallpapers, some of which are rather large, to my BB's size. The resizer that is mentioned on this site does the job but it is all distorted. Is there an idiot's guide to Photoshop or some other program that shows you the way to take a picture/wallpaper and resize it to the measurement you want without the image looking odd and distorted. Thanks.

    Re: Resizing Wallpapers

If an image is lets say 500x500 and you make it 200x200 it will be fine, but if you make it 320x240 obviously one of the sides is shrunk and the other is streched so it will look bad. Your best bet is to resize the image before you send it to your BB to see what it will look like first.

    Re: Resizing Wallpapers

This is usually a two or three step process for me. If I start with a larger image, example is 500x500

I resize it so one dimension is equal to and one is larger than the desired size (my pearl is 240x260) so i resize the image to 260x260.

I then shrink the canvas size to match the desired dim. I chose an odd dimension of 260x120 to show the lack of stretching.

you'll loose a bit of the pic on the top and bottom, or left and right depending on your desired dimensions but the image won't look destorted :edit: more destorted than the one you began with :edit:. Hope this helps a bit.

    Re: Resizing Wallpapers

Here are the steps I take to make wallpaper for the pearl:

    1. First I use Microsoft Office Picture manager to get the proportions correct. Since the Pearl uses 240x260 I can crop the image to any size plus 20 (i.e. 268x288 or 540x560 or 632x652 etc.) Center that crop to where ever you want and save.

    2. Then I use a program called PIXresizer to change the image to 240x260. I like this program because you don't need to maintain the aspect ratio which keeps things from getting squished.

I'm sure there are probably easier ways to do this but this has worked well for me and the two pieces of software are free.
