    Re: Downloads

Ok. The themes listed in our downloads dir are to be installed using your Blackberry Desktop Manager on your PC and a USB connection. Here's some helpful install links:

FIRST, make SURE that you have 4.1 OS. There is a link previously in this post by Hydn that will walk you through how to tell which OS you are using and how to upgrade to 4.1OS if you do not have it yet.

    Next, install the theme.
Then make sure that you do a HARD reset, by taking the battery out.
If you then boot up and they are not under themes, try this.
    Go to:
    OPTIONS
Then Go To ADVANCED OPTIONS at the top of the list, and click it.
    Then click on APPLICATIONS.
There will be a list of all the applications that are on your blackberry, and this is where the fun begins. You need to find the themes that you have installed on your Blackberry.
The easiest way to do this is to look at the numbers on the left. For the themes, there should be a date format, such as 2006.02.27.1606 or something to that effect.
The first part will be the date that you loaded the theme into your blackberry.
You can also look at the names of the applications. Some may have the actual name of the theme, such as Chicago, IceAge, etc, or some may look like this:
    com_plazmic_the...
Scroll down to that application and click your trackbar.
On the menu click "EDIT PERMISSIONS".
Change all of these to ALLOW.
Probably under Interactions will the the only one that will be set as "CUSTOM".
    Change that option to "ALLOW".
Then do a hard reset of your handset.
Go and check your themes again and they should be there.
If anyone tries this and it works, please respond so that others will know that this does work, and if it doesn't work, post here also so that maybe we can figure out why it's not working.
I had the exact same problems as the rest of you loading themes and not getting them on my list, and I was almost ready to give up on using themes, however being bored at home one night I decided to start playing around with the Blackberry and came across this and came to this conclusion.
    Hope this helps!

Are you changing the permissions to allow on all 3?

Have you had to do that? Did it work for you? Let me know. I am wanting feedback to make sure it worked for other people and my BB isn't possessed.

Re: Pinstack's Downloads directory - Theme installation help

Gosh I know how Brunny felt and still do. I have a 7100V and have upgraded the software on the desktop and handheld as per N8DBB's instructions. I cannot find 'Edit Permissions' and the theme will not load. Advice please?

Options>Advanced Options>Applications, then click on the theme of choice, and choose Edit Permissions.

Also, to avoid going thru all that, load the theme AND Plazmic Theme Reader at the same time in Application Loader. Go to the theme and click on it and com_plazmic_theme_reader.

This could explain the resons for the problem. I have no Advanced Options tab. I have Options and then Applications and both the reader and theme is present but will not appear in Themes or on the screen. This suggests that I am missing something?

When you loaded the theme using Desktop Manager, did you check both the theme AND com_plazmic_theme_reader? If not, delete the theme from Applications, then start Desktop Manager, go to where your themes AND Theme Reader are saved, and check BOTH. Then click Next. This should work.

If not, send a message to Ozrial. He's the theme master of the forum and will be of more help.

Re: Pinstack's Downloads directory - Theme installation help

I have checked both in the DM and both are in the Applications section on the 7100V. Although I have upgraded the DM software to 4.1 the handheld software has no update from 3.08.128. I will try to delete both and then reload them although I have done this once already. Still, nothing ventured etc. Thank you for the advice. It is appreciated.

Stupis boy! If I had RTFM I would have had no problems. The instructions by N8DBB do work although I did not have to do a hard reset as the device found and installed everything. It would appear that the UK phones are not meant to have uprated software, nothing unusual there. All is now well and the learning curve continues.
