You know.... the thing is... why not just use a failsafe tactic like,

    ctrl-f
    vendorID="

manually replace EVERY entry with 102 (I have T-Mobile, US)

    Is there something I'm missing?

I do this, remove the Vendor file..

    Start the app-loader...

It shows me that NO CHANGES are going to be made...

It does all of nothing rather quickly...

I look at my phone, and I have no new themes to choose from...WTF?

There must be SOMETHING I'm missing... but since the first list of steps on the main page didn't even show the "delete vendor file" as a step... and since I've done what I've said preceding this... i can't help but wonder if this is a comprehensive process.

What I'm HATING is that there are 20 freakin pages of people working out the "how to" which should have been all-inclusive on POST 1... including conditional statements like, If you have ATT, use 100, Tmobile, 102 ... Spanning the information across 20 pages is great for mindless reading, however, condencing it would be much more to my liking. Apparently ... since there ARE 20 pages of questions, some refinement of the process needs to occur.

How about we make those changes and create a COMPREHENSIVE "how to" ... and then DELETE this arduous thread in lieu of one that does what this one duped people in to thinking was a step by step.

Idea number 2 ... each time someone DOES accomplish this for a various provider... HOST THE FILE, and make it available for DOWNLOAD! That way... the steps are this:

Identify your vendor code from this list.
Find BB.alx file that corresponds to your vendor code.
    Download file.
Rename your current file to blackberry.old.alx
Place NEW blackberry.alx file in folder located at _____
    Delete/rename Vendor.xml
    Start App-loader
    Click next 3 times.
    Voila

JUST AN IDEA!!!! Its GOT to be less work...

People can just submit their respective completed files... and offer a disclaimer. And since you have included the suggestion that people SAVE their old BB.alx... nothing can go very wrong.

I followed the instructions carefully and think I got everything down pretty well.... I entered my vendor code and everything, however when I go to save the file it sais that the access is denied. What does that mean and why does it do that?

There are serveral reasons that could cause this. One is that you don't have edit permissions on that specific Folder. Or when it was originally installed, it was saved as a Read only file. If the first, try accessing it from an admin account. To determine if it is the second, use Windows Explorer, and when the file is selected, Right Click and select Properties. look at the properties at the bottom of the page.

Thank you for the response. I know I sound pretty stupid, however I have no idea how to do the things you suggested me to do. Should I download once again the OS?

Now when you say run apploader at the end, what do you mean?

I'm installing the OS on my computer right now and about to start... just wondering how to finish. I hope I don't mess anything up.

That means opening your Desktop Manager, with the BB connected to your PC and selecting "Applications Loader". It should be the top feature listed on the DeskTop manager screen.

What is the complete error message that is given when you try to save the file? What Operating System are you running on your PC? What Program are you using to edit the file?

How long does it take for everything to load back up? I'm on the final step...restore device data... and it's been doing this for almost 15 minutes.
