    boa1770, Welcome to PinStack.

You need to use a Graphics Editor to do both of those things. I use Photoshop Elements but there are other that will also work.

I think you can change this using the PTB. On the "Inspector" pane there are 7 icons lined up on the left side of the pane. The 6th one down shows a yellow lock. If you click no this, there's an option to change the background.

I downloaded a free program called GIMP and followed the instructions of an older Plazmic Theme builder guide:

    Re: Plazmic Theme Creation Walkthrough

This mystifies me. The homepage background file I am using is 13 kb in size ( I edited it down already) and is 320 x 240. I have tried it as a .jpg and as a .png. Whenever I try to export it I get the error message that it is over 60 kb - but 13 is not over 60. What's the story?

    steveg23, Welcome to PinStack.

The Theme Builder converts all images to .png format. It is not a very good conversion and really bloats the file size. One thing you can do is to save the image as GIF file, or better yet, use a graphics editor to convert it to a .png file yourself. That way you can control the size better. I use Photoshop Elements which has a feature "Save For Web" which allows you to control the output file size. Other Image editors will allow you to play with the color settings to reduce the converted file size.

Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help with this problem or your BB.

You have to have an image editor that allows a transparent background, and save the file as a .png or .gif file as they support transparency, which jpeg doesn't.

    Hope this helps

Aha! I had already tried converting it from .jpg to .png manually for just this reason, and importing the .png file, but did not realize that the conversion I was doing was grossly increasing the file size. None of the graphics programs I have installed on this PC now will allow me to reduce the size of a .png file (other than by cutting the pixel measurements), so I will look into other packages. Thanks!

Will they let you reduce the number of colors? You might try downloading GIMP from Sourceforge.net. It's supposed to be an Open Source replacement for Adobe Photoshop. It should let you do it.

    Hope this helps

I'll try that, but in the meanwhile "Web Resizer" freeware did it pretty well; I got decent results using it.

Now, is there any way to tailor the "keyboard locked" page? Is that page part of the "theme" that is generated at all? I'm not finding that.

I don't have 7 icons, only 5 (Banner, Home, Controls, Message, Phone). What version of PTB are you using? My BB is running 4.1 so I gather that's the only version of PTB I can use, right?

    Re: Plazmic Theme Creation Walkthrough

Theme Builder 4.1 does not have the option for changing anything on the Lock Screen. and Theme Builder 4.2 won't work with 4.1 devices.

    Sorry
    Rcbjr.

Edited to correct application name. I must have bee asleep then.
