Finally I get one, hope I can still answer.

Goobah, I use photoshop,

select new, 64 pixel X 48 pixel

Select Layer, then new

delete the background layer,

Save as a .PNG (i.e. transparent.png)

replace the normal icon in theme builder with the transparent one.

When you export and load up to the blackberry,

the icons will be hidden until you scroll over.

Re: Plazmic Theme Creation Walkthrough

Way to go Ericbl great answer.

With some versions when you select file/new/blank file and set the pixels, you have the option of setting the background contents to transparent.

Question Re: Plazmic Theme Creation Walkthrough

I just got into theme making for my blackberry 7290 and have made a few I like. My query is about the banner/background image meeting point. When I use a banner that is allready made IE: deathstar copy, I have no problem with the background showing through. Whem i try to create a new banner through compooser is when the bottom of the banner is always white. if anyone can help me i will include the banner i am working on.

Re: Plazmic Theme Creation Walkthrough

dmaul9,

Are you using a transparent Background in your banner? Does The Banner image cover the whole area of the Banner Image Space? What is the size of the Background Image you are using?

I thought i was using a transparent background, yes the banner covers the whole banner space and i am using a 240x60 background image size. I used the image of the Death star banner and pasted the facade over that and it still did not come out right.

Re: Plazmic Theme Creation Walkthrough

For a 72xx series display the banner background needs to be 240 x 38 pixels according to the PTB Users Guide. And the home screen background needs to be 240 x 160. But the Banner Background will cover the top portion of the home screen image. That may be your problem.

Hope this helps

Re: Plazmic Theme Creation Walkthrough

dmaul,

Your image is the right size, but I think I do see the problem. You have these areas of transparency where the "arches" are at the bottom, and they don't go all the way down the image that you can't get the white to go away. I d/l the image and I can get the white to go away and make it transparent just at the bottom. I'll be on and off all day today, but if you'd like I can try to correct this in PaintshopX and send you the transparent PNG file. Just PIN me.
