- BlackBerry Software v4.5 (all networks)
*** Note: Themes created in Theme Builder are only supported on BlackBerry devices running BlackBerry software v4.2 or higher.
- Operating system – Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista
- RAM - 256 MB or more
- Available Hard Disk Space - 200 MB
- Display - Minimum required resolution is 1024 by 768, with millions of colors
Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 (or later) - for viewing documentation in PDF format
- BlackBerry Device Simulators 4.2.2 + (only available for 4.2.2 & 4.3) *note* the Blackberry JDE 4.5 has the simulator bundled within, but will not work WITH the Theme Builder but as a stand alone testing application.
- BlackBerry Email and MDS Services Simulator
New features for the v4.5 CDK include:
- Create custom homescreens:
By selecting the custom theme type, you can design a custom Home screen. Add Zen theme and Today theme items to the Home screen. These application items can be positioned anywhere on the Home screen.
- Repurpose Custom Themes:
Use the assets of existing themes to be create new themes. You can now easily re-edit your themes for multiple types of SmartPhones.
- Customize Message List Icons:
Create custom message list icons that identify the type and status of the messages in the list. These icons include images for email and text messages, as well as browser messages (for example, for saved browser requests or pushed browser content).
- Add Web Links:
Provide a shortcut to a particular web page address by adding a web link application to the application grid screen. When the user clicks the web link icon, the browser opens and displays the specified web page.
- Customizable Notification Icons:
Create your own custom notification icons, indicating that there is an unread message associated with a BlackBerry Application.
- Customizable Lock Screens:
Customize the Lock screen's background, icon and text settings to further enhance the look and feel of your theme.
- New application Icons:
The latest 4.5 BlackBerry application icons have been provided for your use in your theme, or as inspiration for your own custom icons.
- Improved Installation Experience:
The necessary BlackBerry JDE components and MDS simulators are now packaged with the software making installation that much simpler and streamlined
- New Device Plastics:
Preview how your color scheme and icons will look on the varying colors and designs of BlackBerry Smartphones.

yah i created mine and i cant seem to get the theme to my curve 8330 can someone help?
rigo -- do you have the 8330 device software installed on your PC in addition to DM?
if so, then export the theme to alx format, plug in bb to USB cord, launch Desktop Manager and use application loader to load the alx on to the BB.
I think I'm going to give this a try

I can't get my themes onto my BB pearl 8110, please can you help?
the BB site comes up blank after logging in. how am i supposed to download everything? talking about email and mds simulator...

you say i need xp pro. can i theme build from xp home edition or no?
trying to build my first theme now for 4.5 and any help with finding icons and pics would be great
