Getting more words/characters per message in the today theme

Is there a setting to get more words on each message row on the today theme?

Right now I get about 10 characters for name and 3 for subject, to the right there's still at least a quarter of the screen not being used....

How can I fill this up? Is it a theme font issue or is there a setting somewhere?

thanks for the info... I'm using a theme that I made myself using Plazmic... where's the setting in Plazmic to control this? Is it a font thing? or is there a place in plazmic that tells it how much space to use on the screen (which doesn't make sense since we can't have more than one column of items in the today screen)?
