    Currency Converter App

Anybody here have a Currency Converter App for the 8700 or 8300? Or for the blackberry in general? One that can be updated (even manually). I used to have a Worldmate in my Ericsson P910 (pretty useful), but since I switched to blackberry (which I'm very happy, by the way), Worldmate cost an arm and a leg. And I just need a currency converter for my travel.

    Help please..

There are a couple of mobile websites that you could use on the BlackBerry, one that I like is Oanda Oanda C.C., we have a couple listed on our Finance section of BBerryOne, http://www.bberryone.com/Finance.html

you may have better results with an online conversion website - an app would need frequent updates.

when at my desk i use xe.com "The World's Favorite Currency Site"* and just saved it to my Bookmarks on my Pearl. wanted to see it perform, before i recommended it.

the site loads quickly and cleanly on the screen, and the currency selection table expands nicely when using the ALT key. the conversion results also display in a large, clean font that shouldn't be easily missed.

    * thanks to the goog, me thinks

    Re: Currency Converter App

Question, wouldn't it be possible for someone to write a tiny app, where you can put the exchange rate in and then it would convert based on that? I wish someone had that, that way I wouldn't have to pay roaming data charges when I'm out of the US.

If anyone knows of such an app please let me know!

    Thanks

I'll have to look at xe.com

    I use xe.com
It's quick and up-to-date enough for most peoples' needs. And it doesn't suck up memory like a 3rd party app would.

    Re: Currency Converter App

I'm just worried about the data usage. It 0.195/kb and the page uses 17k to load, it doesn't sound like much, but it adds up quick!

BTW, I do like it for here in the US, where I have unlimited data.

    Re: Currency Converter App

Oh, I almost forgot. Google does it too.
Try this search string: "100 euros"
and you get this result "100 euros = 137.8 US dollars"

    More about Google's conversion:
