Question Close to quiting: HELP PLEASE?

Alrighty. So I've downloaded and installed all the pre-req's, twice. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Theme Builder countless times.

    I have a 7130e w/ 4.1 OS

Here's all the Blackberry stuff I have installed now:

    Blackberry Desktop Software 4.1
Blackberry Email MDS and MDS Services Simulators 4.1.2
    Blackberry JDE 4.1.0
Blackberry v4.1.0 for the 7130 Series Wireless Device
    J2SE Development Kit 5.0 Update 11
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11
    Netbeans IDE 5.5
    Plazmic CDK 4.1 for Blackberry

I continue to get an error message after choosing what type of theme I want to create. It reads, "A required source was", with an Ok button, and that's it.

If I press ok a dozen times or so, it will open the program, but the 5 vertical keys have no icons on them and when I try to change something it normally freezes up or gives me the same error message again.

Surprisingly, the program opened correctly once, and I was able to make some font changes and export the theme. It worked fine on my BB. I closed the program, and the next time I opened it, I got the infamous error message.

I am not running any other programs when I open it. I don't press any buttons when it's opening. My laptop is just over 1 year old and is a highly capable machine built for graphics & design.

What the heck am I doing wrong?
Do I need to run another program in the background first for it to work?
Do I need to download different or more programs?
Did I download and install a wrong program?

Please help me here. I have now sunk many hours into making this work. I'm close to quiting, but keep reading about everyone who has successfully made this work. Thanks in advance.

I apologize that this isn't helpful, but as a way of clarification: Are you getting this in the application when you launch it on your computer? If so, what O/S? Windows XP? Vista?

Yes, I launch the program, choose 71xx icon theme, press ok, the loading bar comes up as the square (where the BB pic is) loads, then the error message pops up. The error message doesn't have a bar on the top, the red X does not show up until you put your mouse over top.

    I'm running:

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2
    Intel T2400 1.83 GHz CPU
    Intel Centrino Duo Processor
    nVidia 7200 Graphics Card
    1 GB RAM
    80 GB HD

You have installed entirely too much and possibly in the wrong order.

Start over if you can and delete everything. Re-boot xp-home.

    Begin with this.

    Install:

    JDE 4.1.1
    JRE 1.5.0.09 (java app)
    Plazmic CDK 4.1

You can get all three of those from here: http://www.mobile41.com/theme_tools.htm

Thing should work just fine when done.

Re: Close to quiting: HELP PLEASE?

In general I am going to suggest the following as well:

    1. Uninstall everything.

    2. Reboot.

    3. Find _ALL_ program folders for the apps you've installed. In general, look at the following locations:

    C:\
    C:\Program Files\
    C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data (hidden)
    C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data (hidden)
(Also look through any folders labeled "Common" within those three above.)

Anything you find related to the applications you're trying to remove, you should either rename the folder or move them to the Recycle Bin (DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING.)

Note: Your username might actually be "default" or "Administrator" depending upon how the system was installed. Also: If you've ever changed your username via the Users control panel, then the DIRECTORY will still refer to the original name.

Reboot again, this time with feeling.

Then reinstall in the order srl7741 mentioned above. THEN try again. :-)

    Good Luck.

Ok, so I tried this and I'm still getting the error message. Perhaps I'll try finding all the folders and sending them to the recycle bin and redoing it all over once again.

I tried all of your suggestions and I'm still getting the error message. I think I'm just going to quit. I've installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, and rebooted so many times; I clench my fist each time the dreaded message pops up.

It can't be that hard, can it?

    You wouldn't think so.
