jad files are for direct installation to your Blackberry, not for installing using the Desktop manager. There are apps for converting but you have to have all the cod files associated with the jad file, which aren't usually seen in the webpage where the jad file is.

Anyone know a good program for making icons for the BB to get rid of the while box around them?

    Hi Kieranwest

I feel so stupid sometimes when I need to ask others for assistance. I've been a Network Administrator for about twenty years. But the blackberry programming has me stymied. I've done web pages using Java. But only minor stuff like modifying existing code. I have the Blackberry JDE 4.5.0 from RIM, books on JAVA up the wazoo, but nothing is telling me or showing me what I need to do to start programming in the JDE arena. Any assistance you can supply would be fantastic.

Very informative thread, thanks. I can't wait to get started writing some apps. Anyone aware of a java compiler that runs on the blackberry?
