    Banner Resizing with Plazmic

    I have an issue =)

I am making my first theme; I've looked in the stickies and didn't see an answer to my question.

How do I resize the banner in plazmic? I made a 240x25 banner background but it gets stretched out to 240x65 when I put it in. I cannot figure out how to change the overall size of the banner so this does not happen.

    Thanks!

    is 240 x 65 the default size? what device? 8100 or 7100?

you may need to adjust your banner to 'appear' to be 240 x 25...does that make sense?

I'm sorry, I meant to put in what device I was working on.

I'm building it for a Blackberry Pearl 8100. When I opened the theme builder it asked me to select a basic theme; I chose 8100 Dimension Icon. I've tried within the program to change the height of it to no avail; there's no option that I have found for it and nothing to drag when I click "Reposition banner objects"

    ok
you can't change it in plazmic. you can however create your own banner in an imaging program and use it in plazmic.

remember to save it as a png file...that works best in plazmic

What I do is to resize pictures/banners/icons with another application before loading it into Plazmic. I use the Adobe Photo Deluxe program, but you can use any one you want. If you get the sizes approximate, it works --

I've been saving them in jpeg -- seems to work well. What's the advantage of of png?

Aww So even if I made everything all compact and nice looking; the applications are still going to show up half an inch below everything else?

What app can I use to change this?

.png supports transparancy; also small, high quality file sizes!

Another advantage to saving them as png yourself is that you can control the conversion. Theme Builder changes all images to png when they are loaded, but the conversion really bloats the files and can give an error when exporting the theme.

    Hope this helps

aHA! That's why occasionally when I save a background in jpg format, and it is the correct size, the Plazmic Theme Builder rejects it during the export because it's "too large"?!? Thanks Rcbjr!
