now if we could just get RIM in line, LOL
Lol, yep. 3 Stacker posting same within 3 minutes. Wow. I think you beat me to link.
It would probably just be industry news if it weren't for the circumstances surrounding the retirement. Pancreatic cancer is almost always fatal. I wish him Godspeed and will keep he and his family in my prayers and thoughts.

^^^^ for that reason, I'm sorry. Yes. And he is deserving as any other. But just because he shifted seats in the command post, no.
Has it been confirmed his illness is the reason? I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
However, can't say that I'm upset he did step down.
It must be Jay. A man of his personality and character will not step down unless he really can't carry on.
He's got no choice unfortunately.
Good night all. Geez...
Why is his retirement good news for BB lovers? Not sure I understand that one.
Orville Redenbacher said it best: "Do one thing and do it better than anyone."
Say what you will about Jobs and Apple. They've kind of lived up to that statement.
Shouldn't be good news to anyone, regardless of what kind of cell phone they talk on. JMO.

When Bill Gates resigned Microsoft didn't go away or did it? Why should this be any different? Any publicity is good publicity.
What's the matter? CIA's got you pushing too many pencils?
This is not really related to the step down but has anyone seen that Apple is lobbying to have a tax holiday for profits made overseas, 'cos they don't want to pay tax on the $1.3 trillion they made this year. Gosh I wish I could have a tax holiday, on second thoughts I wish I had the $1.3 trillion and I would be happy to pay the tax. When you are talking this sort of money (and this is foreign earnings) + the amount from the US I am sure you can enjoy your retirement. It is better to take time to heal oneself.
Love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful, and optimistic. And we will change the world. - Jack Layton (1950-2011)
