I didn´t compare. I judged the phone only. I´ll compare the two, design and quality, soon. So hang on to your pants Jay...

I also say: "I wasn’t too attached to it when I gave it back. It seemed it had no value."

You know, its occurred to me that I haven't used the S3 features that Touchwiz offers.

Your biggest point is that the S4 brings more software tricks than design changes. So in theory I wouldn't benefit from an upgrade.

I'm considering flashing stock and attempting to use for a week. Wonder if I can make it....

Jay, the whole Galaxy experience are the features Samsung has bundled into TouchWiz. With the S3 and now even more withe S4. If you haven't tried them, then you've missed the objective of Samsung. It's a pity that if you use another launcher you loose the widgets of TouchWiz.
it won't be long before there will be software upgrades for the S3 and the Note 2.

I keep the most recent official and the version it had when I got it, along with a stock recovery on my SD card.

I have played with it, but I can't really get past the stock browser, and can't find something suitable. Searched web for AOSP browser that will work, but no luck.

I am also skeptical about battery life on stock. 3-4 and sometimes 5 hours screen on is normal on AOSP with the kernel I'm using.

If I get time tonight I'll flash the new update Sprint leaked that has the premium suite. I'll tweak the build prop a bit and see what happens.

Cassie's upgrade comes we are pretty sure we will be getting another Samsung. With two in the house some of the features will be useful.

Well, I think I've been seeing signs of what my next device should be, and it's not the SIV. I've run into 2-3 people lately that have the Note. Looking forward to the next iteration of that device. Hopefully Apple will give me something to consider at the same time, but until then, as Del said, the SIII and Note II will be getting software updates here shortly. Let's see what that brings.

I'm happy with what I have, this S4 is most definitely not enough phone to make me want to change. While it's specs and bells and whistles are nice, do I really need all of that? The older I get the more I find myself asking those types of questions......is that odd??
None the less, nice review Del as always

I think about the SIV, but I'm getting to the point myself that a new device is just not what's it's cracked up to be. If my SII died then yes there is no question, but what device the replacement would be is way out there. Only time will tell.
