They probably monitor the use of the phone... via sim, cdma, whatever. Probably Rog could cue us up on this. Ahem...!

They can probably tell the phone is working better, plus people may tether if they have jb'ed. They can certainly tell if you use BB Bridge with you BB (at least ATT does and asks you to pay extra if you continue!!). Can you multi-task if you JB? That's a big failing of the IPad2, only runs one task at a time

You might right on the tethering aspect, Dave. You can't tether without jailbreaking. Otherwise I have no idea how they would know if an iPhone is jailbroken. This is NOT good news.

If a carrier requires you to pay for tethering and you choose to circumvent this by using certain applications then it is fully within the carriers right and written in the contract that you should and will be moved to the correct plan.

This will only affect those that use major amounts of data. If you're using 5GB a month on a cell phone then you are obviously using a lot more than the standard consumer. In that case you should be charged for what you use.

It's very hard to use your phone normally and use over 5GB a month.

Yes there is a certain way that they know how you are tethering.

Again, this will not affect those that use their phone as it is ment to be used but if you're using it as a personally hotspot then you should be charged for what you use.
