    Neither merger makes any sense, since the network technologies are different. The only mergers that would make sense would be Sprint/Leap, Sprint/MetroPCS, VZW/Leap, or VZW/MetroPCS.It makes no sense for a GSM carrier to buy out a CDMA carrier.

    ^^^^^I agree and disagree. What you're saying makes sense if AT&T wants to combine the companies, where Leap would be absorbed and actually become part of AT&T. However, growth also comes through diversification. Their intent may be to own Leap and continue to run it as a CDMA carrier. For example, Yamaha makes great motorcycles - - and great guitars and drums.

    Mark, I hadn't thought about it that way. You're right, though. A lot of companies make diverse products. Mitsubishi is probably the company that has the most diverse operations: cars, ships, mining, cameras, construction equipment, chemicals.
