would anyone choose sony over samsung ?. in my opinion android is pretty much more or less the same experience on any device (except htc). sony appear to have a more unique ui than samsung and with their new devices being water proof, why ain't people buying them ? are sonys bad devices ?

Sony is traditionally a well built phone. Their problem is how often they get to update software, if at all. And the time they take to do it, when they decide to do it, and then not all models of the same hardware gets them. Like the example above.

Sony makes solid devices. Sadly they don't like CDMA, and that means I won't own one for awhile.

Android experience is (for me) what I make of it. Hardware has become more of an aesthetic thing, I'll agree. However the software can give you a very different feel depending on what you have installed. Paranoid Android and this like it feel very different than CM. Different layouts, and with the additions of floating apps and sliding ui elements, my s3 feels quite different than it did day 1.

The guys putting out apps and ui enhancements need to be noticed. Halo, Floating Touched, the multitude of sliding pickers, Xposed Framework and its modules, all pretty cool.

So, no, its not more or less the same. If you think it is you're missing out.

Before now, all the excellent Sony devices were only available overseas, and cost a pretty penny unlocked. The Z is the first high end Sony device to be available state side. And that killed them; so much but too late.

I am looking on getting the Z ultra. Waiting to see what the HTC One Max brings to the table, and waiting for the Z ultra LTE modal which is compatible with ATT and Tmo network to hit the market.

Am a big guy, that wears big pants, with big hands.

I will say this...Sonys main advantage is that their current flagship devices are waterproof. I personally would choose an experia Z over an S4 but not an S3 mini.

it's the screen size that bothers me, I must be able to operate the device EASLEY with one hand and minimal position movements (changing the position of your hand to reach something on the device)

you know me J...always practicality over class or exclusivity.

What do you gave, girl hands? I'm typing with one hand on an s3.

To each his own, but class and exclusivity plays no part in what I use.

The EVO you have is over 4" (if I remember correctly) how is that? Don't let that device influence your opinion of android. It's horrible.
