    Since the Patent covers the method of inputting the smiley face by clicking on an icon next to the text input for SMS and BM, does that mean that when we comment from the web browser the icon at the top of this comment box is also covered by the patent. Or how about the apps that you can buy which allow you to add smiley faces, are they affected, or is this company just going for groups that they think will settle and pay them lots of money?

    One day you'll have to make sure you're the only owner of your body and mind, patent it at birth, just before someone claims it.
    This is nauseous. And something else which I won't say...

    Wow. Every device + program on the planet uses emoticons. Specific to the patent, the menu of choices has been available for quite some time. There should be a rule that if you don't claim a patent for XYZ years, it drops. You can't decided 10+ years later that it's time to claim it -- after it becomes "popular".
