This is stupid Samsung doesn't hold a patent this isn't a piece of software or chip it is a system. If you can't run a android system on iPhone or IOS on Android this shouldn't even be a topic of discussion. What I would really like to see is all this nonsense dropped because we all know who is going to suffer in the end and who will end up richer.
At last voices of reason. Protect ones intellectual rights yes, but Patent awards are getting truly stupid, Samsung is doing exactly what Apple has done. Negotiate, give a little take a little. From the strength of Apple as a company can they truly put their hand on their hearts and say that they have been hurt financially? Why is Samsung doing this, fit for tat.
This will continue because we allow it to. What difference does it make who sues who, we just keep upgrading and buying millions of devices, whether it's the iPhone5, or the Galaxy III. It will never end just as technology won't. They have no choice. I for one am done, at 61 I have purchased my last smartphone. I do not have the finances to chase the dream.
The trouble is the majority of people do not follow the news, do not read patent wars, they just blindly follow what's new. The IPhone 5 is aesthetically pleasing, probably more so than the majority of phones out there, it is tied into the Apple ITunes eco system so it is the obvious choice for anyone already in the system. Add to that the articles that are being published fawning over the press conference, it is the thinnest phone out there (not) it has the best integrated maps (not), it has rounded corners ( sorry had to add that), it is the fastest (maybe), it has panorama functions, it has the bet camera (doubtful with that Nokia out there), and so on, wow, sometimes I even get a craving to buy one, and if I had been younger when the first IPhone came out I would probably have owned every single IPhone. Now I don't see the point there are other things in life I enjoy, but I do understand the need to keep up with technology and the war of words between the various phone manufacturers. What I truly find obnoxious though is the money that these big firms make and the low salaries they pay their workers, where profit and money has become god.
On that point I found this article particularly amusing, please be aware this did not I repeat did not happen!!
