Better late than never with the delayed release, but in this case, for RIM, this is as bad as never.

Stick a fork in RIM. It's done.

I am not particularly worried by the financials, it was obvious this was going to be the case, but they have basically just shot their feet off from under them by put the release of the BB10 device back to Q1 2013. I wonder how many of the BB faithful will wait, come to that will there be a RIM by Q1 2013, or will they even have enough money to push the phone out, also who will be around at that stage to buy a new phone, everyone that has an upgrade is going to jump on the Samsung SIII or the Apple IPhone 5......goodbye RIM

I won't pile on the obvious, but will say those using RIM products should get more serious about finding something else to suit their needs.

But, it will be great when it's released....................

But a serious question. My wife still has a 9700 that she's fond of. When RIM goes belly up, what happens to the BIS? Will her phone cease to connect to the Internet? Or will AT&T take over and the Internet go through them?

I really think the 9700 will die before RIM does. If RIM goes out of business next year, the 9700 will be four years old. Not many devices last four years these days, nor are expected to last four years.

I have access to several phones and use my 9700 many times for fun. Great keybord, nice clear screen and smaller size. It's an easy phone to use with one hand also. Why be in a hurry to get rid of a classic?

The likelihood is they will existing but much smaller. If BB10 is ever released it is a really good OS but if they become small I am not sure I would want it BIS and Best will likely continue as it probably makes money. How many developers are going to stay on board knowing that they will not make any money on their work till next year. It is SO annoying!

There already was one poster (an app developer) on another site who said that he is going to concentrate on developing apps for Microsoft for the rest of 2012. He is not going to bother with RIM apps at this time, especially since he still does not even have the tools he needs, and he will not make any money, given the BB10 delay.

Shes used to the physical keyboard. She's not sold on typing on a virtual keyboard, but I've about got her talked into it.
