This is a joke right?Just wow. This has got to end up being studied in business classes as how to destroy a business from the inside out.

That is just unbelievable. Don't guys like Martin know that sometimes it is just better to keep one's mouth shut. His comments just beg the media to run more negative stories about RIM.

This is like someone who's on fire arguing with you that they're not on fire. RIM is sooooo far behing iOS and Android it's not even funny.

I just don't get it. Like Chokem said, he's ignoring clear evidence that solid change is needed. Not MORE marketing but more to MARKET.

Actually maybe it helps explain why RIM is doing so poorly? Think about it for a moment? Imagine numerous people just like him running RIM. .

Jim Balsillie has some "gems" back when he used to give speeches. He is just as clueless.

It sounds like RIM's entire board is clueless.

What is far more worrying is that he is the Dean of the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management! Ok I can understand the initial assumption that consumers would not want poor battery life, back in 2007, but for goodness sake look at the sales of these high end phones that should tell you that they don't mind. While I am fine with my blackberry (my life is not so hectic that I need to be able to have all the goodies that Android and IOS have to offer, my phone does what I need), however that is not the case for may people, and it is about time that the board of directors realize this, I just hope that BB10 will at least keep RIM afloat for the sake of all the employees. On another note it sort of explains why the USA is heading in a similar direction as it has advisors from Universities trying to test out their theories, unfortunately while all these things work fine in the classroom they do not work in real life, it is one of the learning points that you need to understand when you leave university!!!

Interesting that he would be appointed Dean of Rotman School of Management with only an MBA from Harvard. University deans tend to be Ph.Ds in most cases.

MBA from Harvard, what are these universities teaching, how not to run a business or a country??

... what I fear is that these universities aren't teaching anything. Given this example (Roger Martin to rise to be a DEAN), I wonder how much he "invested" in his studies...

The link in the article which is to the interview, provides his CV. That's where I saw MBA from Harvard.

^^^I saw that. And felt puzzled. Maybe that's Canada, I thought.
