Soo true; money talks bull sh*t walks. On another note; apple is an American company, so you would expect the principle of the nature to go right out the window in order for the US government to save face and not get a bad rep for not protecting us companies. Everyone that has no clue of what's going on will see is that the government is not protecting a US company, and the media will spin it that way.

Google spent 18.2 million according to that link.

As far as the veto goes. The President had no choice but to veto the ban. The fact that a ban was issued at shows just how the patent office doesn't understand FRAND patents vs proprietary patents. You can't say "we'll license our FRAND patents to you only if you give us your proprietary ones. That's exactly what Samsung wanted. And that's exactly why this ruling was vetoed.

Reminds me of the time Japan dumped most of their production in Europe and US in the sixties and seventies (also part of the eighties).
People forget that foreign governments that resort to dumping their wares in the US and EU, are looking to shore up their national reserve banks with forein currency, especially the US Dollar (nowadays it's the Euro as well).
This veto has far more consequences for S. Korea than for Samsung.

Samsung went about it underhanded. They tried to use their might as a FRAND patent holder to gain access to Apples proprietary ones. The offer they proposed to Apple wasn't in the least bit fair. And it wasn't what others were paying. Samsung is a giant and a major player in S.Korea. And their Government. It's no wonder that many are now looking into their practices with a finer comb.
