What is GLONASS? That is not something I've heard of previously.

Glonass is the Russian version of GPS. The letters stand for Globalnaya Navigatsionnaya Sputnikovaya Sistema, in English Global Navigation Satellite System

Global Navagation Sattelite System. It's basically Russia's version of GPS.
    Apparently I'm too slow.

So, the Russian version of GPS is supposed to be better than the US version?

Are any other European countries beside Russia using GLONASS?

I don't normally care for simply posting a link to another website when answering a question, but the article at Wikipedia about GLONASS is excellent: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GLONASS. It's an interesting read with lots of info

This Q&A. Who answers? A psychologist? Yikes...
And GLONASS is reputedly accurate and fast. But in Europe, generally, Navteq rules.
GLONASS must still pass the stage of GLASNOST. Gorbachev didn't get that far...lol.
