I actually got mine for free by being an early adopter.
Due to a data bug that some users had (I did not), which was fixed by an OS update less than a week after the device was released for AT&T, I got a rebate from Nokia for the full price I paid for my upgrade.
I'm not complaining. I had no issues, but still got the rebate. The money I saved will allow me to upgrade to a Windows 8 phone at full retail cost, if I so desire, since I did not have to pay for the Nokia Lumia 900.
I also would pick a Nokia Windows 8 phone, since I've always been impressed with Nokia's hardware, even when I had Symbian devices.
