This is sad news, because HTC puts out very high quality handsets. My HTC HD1 is much more stuirdy (in feel) than my Sammy S3. Hope they recover!

I couldn't agree more. I don't think HTC ever manufactured a "cheap" product. All their phones look good, feel good, and are durably made of aluminum, composite materials etc. Sturdy and well finished. The latest model, the One, is an example for others to follow.

From a local distributor and retailer. Sometimes from Vodafone, like the Z10.
The distributor gets appraisal models early for marketing and carrier implementation purposes. The retailer usually gets new models from other EU countries when these haven´t got to be distributed here.
Vodafone helps out sometimes, like the Z10 that they received from Vodafone UK and have to prepare for the local market.
And then it´s beg, steal or borrow. And sometimes I buy them outright.

The manufacturers, and occasionally local storefronts, sometimes give and other times lend us devices to review.
