So do these updates come from HTC or are they pushed by the carriers?

Article makes it sound like it's pushed by HTC.

Rog it's pushed by HTC. I can't remember if yours is locked to TMobile or not, if so maybe The carrier will want to update their blab and only then you'll get it. If its unlocked you can go to settings, about, and check for updates once in a while.
As for you Chokem, I'll get back to you later. Geez it's as if you just moderate and don't keep track of what we write... Tsk tsk!

With all due respect, King Del. I cant read every article written, especially about Android devices. There are too many posted here to read every one. I'm too busy reading the responses, and making sure none of the iphone fanatics say anything derogatory about the Android platform.

...or vice-versa. Ok now I get it. You always read the last page of a book. That way you know the whole story... I used to do that when I was a kid. With comics.

Back to my original question. What OS preceded jellybean?

Project Butter! A dramatic change for Android that makes everything smooth as butter. Expandable notifications, extra security, and many more features. Its a must have update, and you shouldn't buy an Android device that doesn't come stock with JB. Really if you want Android, wait for the Nexus. Google has something nice in store for everyone. Much like the Nexus 7, I believe they'll take a loss up front just to give us greatness. Go Nexus!

Don't like giving a cut and paste but I couldn't explain it as well. This is the product history for Android.
