This isn't new - i remember seeing the ads already in different screens while using maps. It was the most annoying ad experience i've ever seen. Mostly because of the small screen (i think the first time I saw it was when the Nexus S was out for a while), it really stood out. And it made me very angry.

I can't believe this is even a consideration btw. WHO the hell is going to click on an ad while driving or actually trying to look something up/get directions?

Shame on you google. Way to sacrifice user experience without even providing a paid option!

Actually it is. It's brought back the realization to many, that you are not the customer of Google. You are the product.

Because Google has never sold anything but it's users.

Soon we will have to listen to o commercials before we make phone calls, or a word from our sponsors before we get you those search results.

Ventz, some will argue that you are using Google services and that gives google the right to mine your data and shove ads in your face. A tradeoff of some sorts.

Its Ok for Google to look through your stuff but not the government, but the government doesn't provide awesome apps like maps and Gmail so it's cool.

Some of is can't afford that iPhone, so we just slum with Google.

Their add help me find the appliance stores. The y have the best boxes to live in.

Maybe an iPhone user will drop some change before he heads off to get laid......

    it's cool , bro.

I use a second twitter account to hopelessly flirt with porn stars and ke$ha if i feel like slumming it.

I do it all on an android phone, so in actuality its not very private or anonymous.

Man. Your so out of the loop. I'm tweeting with Charlie Sheen and the Kardashians. All from an Android of course. Who would want that to be private. I keep getting these weird ads though from Columbia. It confuses me, it's all in Kilos.... WTH. Don't they know I'm in 'Merica .

don't worry there are many alternatives ALMOST as good as Google maps. try Map factor: GPS navigation from Google play, it's free and 100% offline (unless your downloading maps) because its offline it runs much much faster for planning routes and searching. just don't search for small unpopular companies and youll be fine.

I believe it's also add free.
