Well this is quite a open ended discussion. I must say that there is alot of nasty things that google will link you to very short into the description, the difference is the crap isn't copyright protected and therefore guess what . . .

Yeah ! Given the nature of an open system like Google, how in hell do you even attempt to censor ?
They don´t need to do that. Good and evil is something we filter according to our character... it´s like porn. Wanna see it, go ahead. If you´re not interested you don´t even get tempted...
But this has to do with other problems... pressure from "other" sources, by whoever. Reminds me of a recent post that we commented on involving CIA, NSA etc. and Civil Liberties. It´a snowball when it hits Google, has damned Wikileaks, already restrains information in some reference guides etc.
As you said, this is open ended...the bad way.

Wow! It's crazy the world we live in. The priorities of Google are incredible. I'm with delfim, if you aren't interested in something then you'll never be tempted. The world has some sickos in it and there's nothing you can do about it when you really think about it.

The sickos will just end up using Yahoo or asking Jeeves anyway :P

As far as helping people find out about torrents this is like shooting a freight train with a bb gun, it wont matter, mainly because most of the people that use torrents, already know either how to use them or someone that does and god forbid people have to spell out a whole word on google......big whoop. In the larger scheme of things I'd say this was a calculated move by google, in that they arent censoring the search results but the search suggestions, probably so if some anti piracy group tries to tie google to torrent usage they can say "lookie we try to stop it". But its only really a token change to have plausible deniability.

and as far as some of the insane stuff they allow on search suggestions, just think about how many search engines off the top of your head that got sued or brought up on charges for anything other than piracy. Which is why i say google doesnt really care about torrents.
